Video: Joe Biden lies about football career — again

biden-liarIn a video posted to YouTube by the White House, Joe Biden, the walking, talking gaffe machine currently filling the position of vice president, was caught lying about his alleged college football career — again.

Biden made the statement while welcoming the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour to the State Department.

“Mr. Secretary, depute minister of sports, nice to see you here, your Excellency I think I have to start off with an admission, I didn’t play soccer, I played that other football from grade school through college,” he said.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Frankly, I don’t care about what Biden did in grade school, but I do care that he misrepresented his college years — again.

I first wrote about Biden’s claim to a college football career back in October 2012.

“During a campaign stop in Athens, Ohio, on Saturday, Vice President Joe Biden said the last time he was in the town, playing against the Ohio University football team in 1963, he almost got arrested for walking into a girls’ dormitory,” CBS News Online reported in September 2012.

The Daily Caller did some digging on this at the time and found it wasn’t true.

A reader at Free Republic found that Biden “did not play football at the University of Delaware in 1961, 1962, 1963, or 1964, according to past yearbooks,” Jim Hoft wrote at the Gateway Pundit.

I spent hours scouring through those yearbooks, and concluded:

We searched through the yearbooks in question and could not find Biden listed in any of the sports sections. Biden’s name also does not appear in the student directory for 1963. A further search located Biden in the list of graduating seniors for 1965, but there is no mention of him playing football.

An article at biography.com, however, says Biden “studied history and political science and played football.”

Breitbart.com’s Tony Lee said that Biden’s words “contradicted his own memoir, in which he wrote he gave up playing football while at Delaware, and Internet records of past Delaware football team rosters, on which he is not listed.”
