Obama-supporting Costco bows to public pressure, will return D’Souza’s ‘America’

Costco-DSouza-300x180It seems that Costco has heard the outcry from across the country and is returning Dinesh D’Souza’s best-selling book, “America: Imagine the World Without Her.”

Earlier Tuesday, Gerald Molen, producer of D’Souza’s film, talked about the flip with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly.  Video of that interview can be seen below:

WND’s Jerome Corsi noted:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Amid a flood of opposition from members, Chief Financial Officer Richard Galanti informed WND that the wholesale giant has reversed its decision to remove Dinesh D’Souza’s book, “America: Imagine the World Without Her,” from its stores.

Galanti told WND that Costco’s corporate headquarters in Issaquah, Washington, instructed local stores that had not yet returned the D’Souza book to the vendor to keep the remaining copies on the shelf.

The book will be reordered from publisher Regnery, he said.

Costco also claims the move was not political in nature despite the “romance” between Costco and Barack Obama.  Judging from the comments we’ve seen, no one is buying that explanation.

Nor are many impressed with Costco’s flip-flop, as many still say they will no longer shop at Costco.

Bye Bye Costco…. my friends will never darken your door again…. stupid move,” one person said on Costco’s Facebook page.  The comment is very similar to practically every comment on the page.

Time will tell if Costco’s decision will make much of a difference.  One thing’s for certain — Their initial decision to remove the book has probably done more to boost sales than anything else.
